5 Ways to Support the Environment on Earth Day
For a company that values the environment as much as we do, you can bet that Earth Day is a big deal at ECI! For more than 40 years, we have been devoted to beautifying Colorado communities by improving waterways and creating the spaces that allow people to fully enjoy the outdoors. This Earth Day, we encourage you to celebrate by showing the environment a little love. Here are a few simple activities to get you started:
Clean Up a Local Park or Waterway
Grab a trash bag, rubber gloves and some hand sanitizer! One of the best ways you can care for the environment on Earth Day is to keep your local natural spaces trash-free. Find your favorite hiking trail, community park, or riverway and enjoy some quality outdoors time, while pitching debris. You’ll feel like a million bucks after filling a bag or two!
Start a Vegetable Garden at Home
Promote sustainable agriculture right in your own backyard…literally! Planting and eating your own herbs and vegetables is a great way to be environmentally friendly. There’s no better time to take the leap than on Earth Day.
Go for a Bike Ride
Show your love for the earth by reducing your carbon emissions for the day (or weekend!). Swap your gas-guzzling vehicle for a bike to get to work this week. Fortunately, Colorado’s bike-friendly culture and numerous bike trails makes this an easy feat.
Plant a Tree
Planting a tree is truly one of the best ways to promote an environmentally friendly lifestyle. They improve soil and water conservation, increase wildlife habitat, help moderate local climate, among several other benefits. Plus, what a great legacy to leave for future generations!
Consider Supporting an Environmental Nonprofit
We’ve partnered with The Greenway Foundation for quite a few years and are so proud of the work they do to revitalize rivers and promote water stewardship. The Denver waterway scene wouldn’t be the same without them, and we are grateful for the important educational opportunities they provide. If you’re looking for a worthy environmental nonprofit to support, check them out!
Wishing you a very happy Earth Day, and here’s to being good stewards to our Colorado environment!
