Kenney’s Run Greenway

Throughout this project, much of the Molson Coors property was removed from the 100-year flood plain, which positively impacted this flood plain along Ford Street. By helping to fund an increase in the capacity of this open channel, the City of Golden enabled a future upstream project to remove even more of East Downtown from the flood plain on the west side of Ford Street. This project created a wider sidewalk on the east side of Ford Street between 14th Street and Clear Creek, and the channel bottom featured naturalistic landscaping. A new concrete box culvert across the open channel at 13th Street was also built.

Project Highlights:

35,000 CY of dirt was excavated and hauled away

Parking lots and four city blocks were removed to create shoring system

The project included 2,700 LF of concrete retaining walls, totaling approximately $4.5 million

1 large grouted boulder drop structure was used

7,200 tons of cobble/river boulders were used

9,500 tons of soil filled rip rap was used
