Coal Creek Park

ECI worked with the Town of Erie for the re-envisioning of Coal Creek Park. One of the most touching aspects of this project is the park’s playground, named Maddie’s Playground. This part was spearheaded by the McDaniel family and is dedicated to families who have lost children and features a commemorative butterfly statue, whimsical rope climbing structures, butterfly-adorned sidewalk, nature play themed playground, and an adjacent shade structure with picnic tables.

The park’s radial community building includes event and café space and men’s/women’s/all gender restrooms. Given the unique curve of this building, everything located inside is custom and was designed on a radius. In addition, the park features a splash pad for hot summer days that transforms into an ice skating rink for the winter.
