ECI is pleased to announce that Aerostat Park, formerly known as Westminster Center Park, celebrated its grand opening in May 2026. The City of Westminster marked the opening of the new four-acre downtown park with a community celebration, featuring music, ice cream, vendors and games.
This new community gem features a playground with adventure pieces, water play features, picnic pavilions, landscaping, turf and irrigation, lighting, site furnishings, art and signage, sculptures, concrete walkways and paths, retaining walls, and a fenced dog area. The project also incorporates facilities with men’s and women’s washrooms, programming storage, and mechanical rooms for the water feature and site utilities.
The most unique design piece of Aerostat Park is the hot air balloon play features, which were an iconic element of the former Westminster Mall that closed in 2012. The park’s flagship climbing and play structure is shaped like a massive hot air balloon, and the dog park also includes a hot air balloon sculpture.
Aerostat Park isn’t the first project ECI has completed in downtown Westminster. In recent years, ECI built Downtown Westminster Plaza and Streetscape, a civic gathering area that consists of an architectural water/splash feature, restroom building, pavilion area, and plaza. Both of these endeavors provide immense value to the downtown businesses and greater Westminster community.
Thank you to our project partners, City of Westminster and DTJ Design, for the collaboration on this exciting new endeavor.
