Top 21 ECI Highlights of 2021
What a year! Between completing projects, employee team building and developing as a company, there certainly has been plenty to celebrate in 2021. As we close out the year and prepare for 2022, we’re recapping the top 21 highlights of 2021.

Started and Completed Kenney’s Run Project
We started this project in May 2021 for Molson Coors and the City of Golden and had the opportunity to explore numerous innovative methods. Throughout this project, much of the Molson Coors property was removed from the 100-year flood plain, which positively impacted this flood plain along Ford Street. The project excavated and hauled away 35,000 cubic yards of dirt and includes 2,700 LF of concrete retaining walls.

ECI’s Annual Golf Tournament Raised $24,000 for the Aims Foundation
We are immensely grateful for the sponsors and partners who participated in ECI’s Annual Golf Tournament in August. Thanks to the outpouring of support, the tournament raised $24,000 for the Aims Foundation. These funds will support Aims Community College’s Construction Trades Scholarship and help offset the costs of pursuing education in the construction field.

Started Erie Community Park
ECI built Erie Community Park in 2013, and we came back for the final phase this year! The new phase will include basketball courts, an asphalt bike pump track, a sledding hill, restroom buildings, shade structures, and many more amenities.

Participated in the MS Walk
Team ECI met up at Twin Silo Park in Fort Collins to continue our annual tradition of participating in the MS Walk to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. This is a cause very near and dear to our hearts and it was a great opportunity to show our support.

Completed Timnath Reservoir Shoreline Improvements Phase I
From January to March 2021, our team worked diligently to complete the first phase of Timnath Reservoir’s shoreline improvements. The project featured a 568-foot long retaining wall along the reservoir shoreline, which was then reinforced with riprap. It was the first large-scale modular retaining wall ECI had ever built with our own forces.

Completed Timnath Reservoir Shoreline Improvements Phase II
After completing phase I, we jumped into the second phase of Timnath Reservoir in June. This phase included more shoreline stabilization, restrooms, a parking lot shelter, landscape and irrigation, split rail fencing and sidewalks. The project finished up in October 2021.

Created a Company Video to Share Our Story

Made Significant Progress on Arkins Promenade
Arkins Promenade is shaping up to be a truly iconic destination in the RiNo neighborhood of Denver. Situated along the South Platte River, the promenade will combine recreation, leisure, the natural environment, and the vibrancy of the neighborhood to create one all-encompassing linear park.

Supported the Women’s Fund of Weld County’s Fundraiser Event
The ladies of ECI gathered in May to support the Women’s Fund of Weld County’s Decadent Desserts event. The Women’s Fund provides much-needed assistance for programs that fuel women’s educational success and self-sufficiency, and we were thrilled to be a part of this important cause.

Completed East-West Regional Trail
We completed East-West Regional Trail in Douglas County in July 2021. The trail connects to the Incline Trail and is 4.7 miles in length, with the overall trail totaling 28 miles. ECI was responsible for building retaining walls, fencing, concrete connections, and a pedestrian bridge for the trail.

Celebrated the Summer at TopGolf
After spending the summer working long and hard on numerous projects, we took some time to celebrate our successes at TopGolf in Thornton. It was a great way to unite as a team, not to mention brush up on our golf skills!

Started and Completed Severance Community Park Phase II
We completed phase I of Severance Community Park in July 2020, and ECI was selected to construct phase II of the park in 2021. This phase included a new community park, two new baseball fields, and a new plaza area.

Refreshed Our Company Core Values
After much deliberation, we felt it was time to give our core values a refresh to make sure they perfectly aligned with what we stand for as a company. We’re proud to announce that our four core values are accountable, adaptable, loyal and resilient.

Broke Ground on the Veterans Memorial Project
One of our most impactful moments of the year was the groundbreaking ceremony for the Veterans Memorial in Adams County. This iconic project is being built at Riverdale Regional Park and will feature numerous unique elements, most fascinating of which being a life-sized replica of the USS Colorado battleship, which will extend into the park’s lake. Inspired Future Construction Leaders at Aims Career Day
We had the great opportunity to participate in the NOCO Construction Sector Partnership Construction Day at Aims Community College in November. We spent the day interacting with high school students as they learned about different facets of the construction industry.

Completed McWhinney Car Pads
ECI worked with McWhinney Real Estate Services and SMP5 Investments LLC to install three new car display pads at I-25 Motorplex. The project included cast-in-place concrete, retaining wall elements, foundation backfill materials, and draining elements.

Supported Fort Collins Habitat for Humanity
We were honored to join Fort Collins Habitat for Humanity for a very special ground blessing ceremony at Harmony Cottages. Building community is what we’re all about, and we are always grateful for the opportunity to support likeminded causes.

Started Cherry Hills Country Club Project
We are excited to be working with Cherry Hills Country Club to make improvements to Little Dry Creek. The project will include irrigation, drain pipe relocation, grading and soil preparation, and sod installation.

Completed Mentor-Protégé Program
ECI has had the pleasure of being a part of the City and County of Denver’s Mentor Protégé Program, in which our president, Ted Johnson, has served as a mentor for Ascend Landscaping. We enjoyed sharing our thoughts on business leadership and interacting with the other mentors and proteges!

Started Englewood Parks Renovation
ECI is working with the City of Englewood to renovate Baker Park, Cushing Park, and Centennial Park. Improvements will include restroom structures, shade structures, and new playground features.
