Winter Park’s Premier Gathering Place
Another CM/GC project, the $4.9M reconstruction of Hideaway Park in Winter Park, presented numerous challenges, the biggest being the tight construction window common in Colorado ski towns. Construction began with extensive grading to create a new 60,000-square-foot sod amphitheater for the Town’s popular summer concerts and events. In the winter, the amphitheater transforms into a busy sledding hill. Next, ECI installed utilities, built gas fire pits and created a large lighted stone arch at the entrance. The team built a colored concrete plaza that features underground radiant heat to keep snow off in the winter. The plaza’s colored concrete walls are decorated with beautiful custom fabricated railings and posts, while delightful graphics express Rivers and Mountains design theme. Custom lighted shelters protect concert goers from daytime heat and create glowing shelters at night. ECI also updated the existing playground, added a new climbing wall and heated restroom building.
