Building a Safer Route
The Acoma Avenue Roadway and Bridge project consisted of constructing a new road between West Street and Main Street in Fort Morgan to provide safe access to a new grade school. The road extended through an undeveloped field and spanned the Morgan Canal with a steel bridge deck.
The project required all site grading and subgrade preparations utilizing fly-ash stabilization so on-site soil could be used. 11,050 SY of asphalt was placed, along with 5,300 LF of associated curb and gutter. Structural concrete abutments and wing walls were poured on either side of Morgan Canal to support the steel bridge structure which was then set and paved.
